Sixteen risers of builder-grade carpet over construction-grade stringers, opening onto a main level of prefinished oak the owners wanted made flat and recolored.
New solid white oak treads with a rounded nosing, painted risers, and the existing handrail stripped and refinished to match. The main level was sanded and finished across three days so the treads and floor share one stain and one sheen.
