Before the first plank
Subfloor flatness gets checked and corrected, moisture is metered in both the subfloor and the wood, and the material acclimates in the house. Layout — direction, starting wall, transitions, and where the pattern lands in doorways — is drawn before anything is nailed.
Materials
Solid white oak and red oak, engineered where slab or moisture conditions call for it, and pattern work including herringbone and chevron. We finish on site when the goal is a seamless plane, or install prefinished when the schedule requires it.
Meeting the floors you already have
New hardwood next to an existing floor is a matching problem, not an installation problem. That is our strongest skill, and it is why installations here usually end with a sand and finish across both.

Hardwood Floor Installation in Raleigh, NC — questions we get
Installed solid hardwood generally runs $9 to $16 per square foot including material, labor, and finish, with white oak and wide plank at the upper end. Removing old flooring, leveling a subfloor, or adding a herringbone pattern adds to that. You get one written number after the measure.
White oak is harder, tighter grained, and takes gray and natural tones cleanly, which is why most new Triangle homes use it. Red oak is less expensive and has a pink undertone that fights cool stains. If you are matching existing 1950s or 1960s floors, that floor is almost certainly red oak.
Plan on five to eight working days for a typical main level: two days laying board, one day sanding, then a coat a day with 12 hours of cure after stain. Add three to five days beforehand for the wood to acclimate in your house so it does not gap or cup after installation.
Yes. We move furniture, tear out carpet, tile, or old flooring, haul the debris away, and pull staples and tack strip before anything new goes down. We ask you to handle electronics, artwork, and anything fragile or irreplaceable. Appliance disconnects are arranged ahead of the start date.
