White Oak Flooring & Custom Stain

White oak is the default request in the Triangle right now, and for good reason: a tighter, calmer grain than red oak and no pink undertone fighting your stain color.

Rift, quartered, and plain sawn

Plain sawn gives you the cathedral grain most people picture and is the most economical. Rift and quartered read as long straight lines, are dimensionally more stable, and cost more per square foot. Rift-and-quartered mixes are the common middle ground in new Raleigh builds.

Stain, sampled on your floor

Showroom chips lie. Every stain we propose gets brushed onto your actual wood, in your actual room, and left for you to look at in morning and evening light before anything is committed. Natural, white-washed, greige, fumed, and deep walnut all behave differently on white oak.

Finish choice matters as much as color. Matte water-based hides more; hardwax oil is repairable in place and reads warmer; satin sits between them.

New installs and existing floors

We install white oak solid and engineered, and we also re-stain existing red oak toward a white oak look — which is often the more sensible spend on a floor that is otherwise sound.

Questions

White Oak Flooring & Custom Stain — questions we get

Close, yes, with the right stain blend to neutralize the pink. We sample it so you can judge before committing.
